Obituary for Dorothy Mae Bykkonen

Dorothy M. Bykkonen of Calumet passed away on Friday, December 13th.

Dorothy was born on February 2, 1927, the daughter of Mitchell and Elizabeth (Korzenieski) Gawronski. She resided in Detroit until April 25, 1964 when she was united in marriage to William J Bykkonen of Calumet, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Helen Levine of Wyoming; her brother-in-law Ethan Levine of Wyoming; special nieces, Monica Lacatis Negron and Laura Lacatis Tabbal, both of New York; a good friend, John Lacatis of Ann Arbor, Michigan; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Bykkonen and Darlene Rastello of Calumet; and two brothers-in-law, Peter Rastello of Calumet, and Lyle Peterson of Phoenix, Michigan.

She is survived by the love of her life and best friend, Bill; three brothers-in-law: Robert of Lake Linden, Dennis (Nancy) of Calumet, and Ronald of Calumet; three sisters-in-law: Arbutus Peterson of Phoenix, Michigan, Shelby (Roger) Riddell of Westland, Michigan and Betty (Hal) Marquardt of Katy, Texas and several special nieces and nephews.

At Dorothy’s request there will be no visitation or service. In her memory it was her wish that contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at stjude.org.

Private burial will be held in the spring at Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
